Beverly Jane Cooper passed away the morning of June 10, 2026, at Hospice of Dayton following a year of treatment for ovarian cancer. She was born June 13, 1955, in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father Paul Jennings Cooper of Waverly, Ohio, and her sister Lydia Marie Cooper. She is survived by mother Doris Aileen Tackett Cooper; sisters Julia Lynn Cooper, Karen Ann Cooper (Colin Flynn), and Mary Beth McGee (Edward); nephew Jared McGee and niece Caitlin McGee.
Beverly loved to read a good obituary. She loved birds and trees and Dean Martin and westerns and whipped cream and film noir. She was fiercely loyal to family and friends and was there to help them when needed. She loved the people and communities of Appalachia and believed that they, along with everyone else, deserve better. She believed government exists to serve the people and contributed to that by working in jobs that provided services people need: education to prepare them for life, parks to nourish their souls, clean water and sewer systems, and safe fire protection and EMT services. She was great with details and helped us deal with the bureaucratic morasses of the VA, Medicare and Medicaid. She always preferred the scenic route and never minded getting lost. No obituary could do her justice. She will be greatly missed.
Beverly did not want a funeral, but she would appreciate contributions to the Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) or Pink Ribbon Good (www.pinkribbongood.org).
