After graduation, he became a commissioned officer in the Army and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam as a Captain, served in the Army Reserve as a ranking officer, and retired from the Army as a Major. After retiring from the military, Bryan worked for 28 years in federal civil service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he was able to use his love of military history, photographic memory, and keen mind for mechanical details daily in his logistics career.
Bryan had an enduring love for muscle cars, especially anything Mopar. He loved tinkering on his cars, attending car shows and swap meets, and hearing the throaty rumble of his restored 1973 Dodge Charger. Later in life, he enjoyed regular trips to the shooting range with friends and lunch afterward. An avid traveler for much of his life, Bryan enjoyed many trips to Houston and Virginia Beach to see his children and grandchildren, and especially enjoyed recent trips to Vietnam with his son Bryan and family.
Those close to him knew his large and generous heart, his love for God and helping others and the community, his signature dry sense of humor, and the way he seemed to have endless stores of knowledge on almost any topic. His love for his country and his military brothers and sisters continued far beyond his years in the service and he was active in his local VFW Post as a member and for a time as Post Commander.
