SCHRAND, Carl Bernard, nine days shy his 102 birthday, of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Carl was born in Covington, KY to William A. and Mayme (nee Feld) Schrand. Carl is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Mary Kathryn Schrand . Carl is also preceded in death by his younger Brothers, Louis Schrand and William A. Schrand and Sister in Law, Marcella Schrand.
He is survived by his Step-Brother, Gary Jones (Carole) of NM, by his Daughter, Mary Ann Sachs of Waxahachie, TX; Son, John (Barbara) of Phoenix, AZ; Son, David (Melanie) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Son, Michael (Kristine) of Kettering, OH; Son, Thomas (Rita), of Lebanon, OH; Daughter, Karen (Jed) Skillman of Madison, IN; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carl graduated Ohio Mechanics Institute Cincinnati (founded in 1828) with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He served in WWII in the US Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lt. Bombardier. He worked for GE for 10 years, 14 years at Continental Electric, and 17 years as Branch Sales Manager for Federal Pacific Electric, retiring in 1983. After retirement Carl worked at Sears Roebuck at the Dayton Mall until his 85th birthday. Carl was a 20 year member of The Engineers Club of Dayton, and a 10 year member of the Executive Committee Ohio State International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
Family will greet friends from 5-8pm Thursday, January 5 and 9am – 10:00am January 6 at Routsong Funeral Home, Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Friday, January 6 at Holy Angels Church, 1322 Brown St., Dayton. Carl will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
