Carol Ann Horath

October 31, 1938 — July 28, 2022

HORATH, Carol Ann, Age 83, of Washington Township, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Carol was born on October 31, 1938 in Jackson, MI, to the late Carl and Dora (nee Cary) Reber. Throughout her life Carol had a love for music, from piano as a child, clarinet in marching band, to organ, accordion and saxophone later on. In Jackson, Carol met the love of her life and soulmate, Jim Horath, marrying in 1973. Soon after, they relocated to Villa Grove, Illinois. As empty nesters, Carol and Jim moved to the Tampa area to work, where they resided for over a decade. They returned to Illinois, living in Mattoon, until Jim’s passing in 2006. Carol eventually moved to Colorado Springs in 2010 to be closer to her daughter Kelly and her family. They moved to the Dayton area in 2013. In her free time Carol enjoyed numerous hobbies; she was a talented artist; she could crochet the most intricate items; and she grew beautiful flower gardens. She participated in many local craft shows; even donating items for fundraisers. She lived in Canterbury Court Senior Apartments for the last several years and she was well known for creating beautiful paintings and drawings that are still on display today. Carol was a strong woman whose positivity, encouraging manner, and determination will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Kelly (Bruce) Doll, Tina (Lloyd) McMillan, and Allan (Holly) Horath; grandchildren, Christopher and Meghan Doll, Rachel, Floyd, and Cyndle McMillan, and Christopher, Travis, Gary, and Cheyenne Horath; seven great-grandchildren; other extended family and in-laws, and her beloved cat, Happy.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Jim Horath; and younger sister, Dorothy Reber.

A private burial cemetery will be held at a later date at Prairie View Cemetery in Savoy, IL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420, American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pk. Ste 300, Rockville, MD 20852, or any animal rescue charity in memory of Carol.
