Carolyn Sue Berry, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 83.
Carolyn, fondly known as Susie, was born on November 9, 1942, in Kettering, Ohio, to the late Harold and Dorothy Stewart. She was a proud graduate of Kettering Fairmont West High School class of 1960, and later pursued a secretarial career. However, her true calling was found in her unwavering devotion to her family and her community. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Koral "Malcolm" Berry. Their loving partnership spanned over 60 wonderful years, until Malcolm's passing in 2024. Together, they created a warm and loving home, nurturing their two sons, David and Stephen Berry, with boundless love and guidance. Susie took great pride in raising her family and was especially proud of the individuals they became.
In her leisure time, she and Malcolm enjoyed involvement in the Tri-State Studebaker Club. Susie was also a deeply involved member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church, from her years teaching bible study, to her service as trustee. She had a beautiful voice and passion for music that resonated through the hearts of many, lifting spirits and bringing joy to all through her participation in various choirs and choral groups, including the Sugar Creek Chancel Choir, Miami Valley Chorale, Schuster Center Celebration Choir, and Sinclair Community College Chorale. In addition to her love for music, she found great pleasure in gardening, nurturing her plants with the same care she bestowed upon her family.
Susie will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her joyful spirit and enduring love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
Along with her parents and parents-in-law, Susie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Koral “Malcolm” Berry, and sister-in-law Jan Berry. She is survived by son, Stephen (Stacey) Berry and grandson Steven Weimer; son David (Gina) Berry and grandchildren, Alyssa Brooks, and Leighton Brooks; sister, Jane (Mark) Jolly and nieces and nephews, Chris, Jennifer, and Phillip Jolly; and brother-in-law Dale (Lynn) Berry, and niece Amy Mount and nephew John Berry.
Services will be held at Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church (4417 Bigger Rd, Kettering) on Saturday, September 12, at 1:30pm. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception in the church fellowship hall, for sharing of memories and condolences. Private inurnment will occur at a later date at David’s Cemetery in Kettering.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susie’s memory to Hospice of Dayton.
