Christina Maria Sloneker (nèe Manzo), age 65, of Kettering, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026.
A Kettering native, Chris was born on April 20, 1961, to the late Michael and Juanita Manzo. She was a graduate of Alter High School class of 1979, and continued her education at the University of Dayton.
Chris was a deeply caring person, whose life was spent giving herself to her family, neighbors, and community. Over the last ten years Chris has found a great purpose in caring for others, particularly seniors. She developed a deep understanding of the challenges that come with aging and dementia and was committed to providing those in her care with dignity, patience, understanding, and kindness. She was a dedicated member of the John Pirelli Lodge in Beavercreek, where she volunteered her time in support of countless local organizations.
In addition to volunteering in her community, Chris loved being out in nature. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed hiking in her spare time. Indoors, she relished hunting for treasures at antique stores and markets. She also shared a deep love of all animals with her daughter, Brittany. But most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Chris was a proud, doting grandmother to her two grandsons, and dearly loved her nieces and nephews. Her passing is deeply felt in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
Along with her parents, Chris is preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Jeff Sloneker; her brother, Frank Manzo; and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her adoring daughter, Brittany (Shelby) Richards; cherished grandsons, Landon and Wyatt; sisters, Mary (Bob) Nutter and Judy (Tim) Kator; brother, Nick (Karen) Manzo; nieces, Jenny(Jen), Nicole, Kara, and nephew, Nicholas.
Services will be held in the Calvary Cemetery Chapel (1625 Calvary Ave, Dayton) on Thursday, August 27, with visitation beginning at 10:00am and funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Friends are invited to gather after the service at the John Pirelli Lodge (2625 County Line Rd, Beavercreek) from 1:00-3:00pm for sharing of memories and condolences.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chris’s honor to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
