Corinne Kissell

April 12, 1955 — April 7, 2023

KISSELL, Corinne, better known as “Corky”, passed away suddenly on April 7, 2023. Corky was born in Dayton, OH in 1955 to the late Albert and Rosemary Stankat. She was a graduate of Bellmont High School class of 1973, and was a graduate of Ohio Institute of Photography class of 1987.

Corky met the love of her life when she met her late husband, Joseph Kissell. They were true soul-mates and bonded over their love for cooking, animals, and being near the water. They loved the beach so much that they decided to get married at the Boardwalk in Manasota Key, FL.

Corky worked at Peasant Stock till they closed their doors, and she has been a staple at the Oakwood Club for the last 23 years. She did much more than just serve drinks. She gained friend after friend and touched everyone’s lives even if she only knew them for a moment. Corky and the Oakwood Club have become synonymous, and many people went there just to see her face.

She often said she was much like French bread, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside once you got to know her. That was shown through her honesty and outpouring of kindness. Corky’s most important role was reserved for her son, Dean. Her love for him had no bounds; she always said they were the best team. Her love for fashion, photography, gardening, entertaining, and her cooking will be missed and remembered by many.

Corky was preceded in death by her father, Albert Stankat, in 1985, her Mother Rosemary Stankat, in 1990, husband, Joe Kissell, in 2002, and many beloved animals she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her son, Dean Kissell; her 3 dogs, Tucker, Piper, Pudge; and many friends that love her.
