SHIVELY, David Allen Age 79 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday June 24, 2022. He was born November 27, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Mees) Shively. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by this son, Tyrone Greene Shively; siblings, Richard Shively, Robert Shively, Jack Shively and his niece, Chrys Meatyard.
David is survived by his son, Jeffrey Shively, grandson, Jasir Lighfoot; nieces and nephews, Cathy (Marty) Miller, Michael (Pam) Shively and Mark (Leslie) Shively as well as extended family and friends. David was a graduate of Stivers High School. He served with the U.S. Marines in the 1960s.
David served the homeless community in Philadelphia for many years. Check out this Donut Man article to see what David was all about. The “Donut Man” reaches out to the city’s homeless with pastries, caring - WHYY. He lived the actions of Matthew 25:35-46. Effecting people’s lives 1 doughnut, 1 cup, 1 track at a time.
When he moved back to Dayton, he continued serving those in need, until the day the Lord called him and he heard those precious words, “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant.”
Guests are welcome to attend David’s Memorial Service, at New Hope Church, 530 Xenia Avenue on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10:30am. To continue David’s service to the Lord, lunch will follow.
Philadelphia services will be held at New Covenant Church and announced at a later date.
