David Lawrence Gantt Sr., age 86, departed this life on August 3, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him. Born on April 27, 1940, David lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Greenwald, who shared his heart, his joys, and his journeys. He will be remembered for the steady kindness he offered to those he loved, his unwavering support for family and friends, and his many contributions to the community.

David was a proud graduate of Chaminade High School, class of 1958. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the General Motors Institute and later completed his MBA at the University of Dayton. Throughout his career with General Motors Corporation in Dayton, Ohio, David served in manufacturing operations, quality, and various engineering roles, retiring in 1996. Guided by his enterprising spirit, he founded his consulting firm, Gantt Inc., that same year, supporting automotive clients until his second retirement in 2008.

David also generously shared his expertise as a volunteer with SCORE (Senior Corps of Retired Executives), where he spent several years mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs and helping them develop business plans. He had an affinity for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Some of his happiest days were those shared with family and dear friends at their cottage on Harsens Island, MI—a place filled with laughter, warmth, and lasting memories.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola (Ott) Gantt; his son, Douglas; his brothers, James and Patrick; his sister‑in‑law, Jeanne; and his nephew, Matthew. He leaves behind his wife, Pamela; his son, David Gantt Jr.; grandsons Jacob (Laura) and Cameron; his brother, Michael; sisters‑in‑law Marilyn and Margaret; and a large, loving extended family of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. The family extends deep gratitude to “Team Dave,” whose devoted and tender care brought comfort and dignity to David, affectionately known as “Mr. Dave” and “Papa Bear.”

Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. David will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
