David Lawrence Mitchell, a devoted husband and father, dedicated history enthusiast, and lifelong cyclist, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on December 15, 1947, David lived his life with an unwavering commitment to loyalty and integrity, values that defined his character and endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A graduate of the Class of 1966, David's educational journey included a meaningful period at Fairhaven Church, where he began cultivating his passions that would lead him through a life characterized by diligence and curiosity. Throughout his career, David exemplified the traits of a true workaholic, pouring himself wholeheartedly into his professional endeavors while leaving an indelible mark on those around him. The proud owner of Reliable Construction Services for over thirty years, David considered his employees to be family and loved them very much. David was a devoted fan of the University of Dayton, enjoying every moment he spent cheering for his team. His enthusiasm was equally matched by his love for history, as he could often be found lost in books, diving deep into the stories of the past. He cherished the challenge of puzzles and card games, often engaging family and friends in spirited competitions. A passionate cyclist, David found joy and freedom on two wheels, exploring the paths and trails that brought him closer to nature and offered moments of tranquility. David is survived by his loving spouse, Brenda Mitchell, whose companionship brought joy and stability to his life's journey, they shared countless memories filled with love, laughter, and mutual admiration. He is also survived by: his beloved daughter, Shelly Mitchell; brothers, Donald (Judy) and Robert (Kathy) Mitchell; sister-in-law, Debbie (Gary) Adams of Clayton, and brother-in-law, John (Lisa) Childers of Brookville. David also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews and treasured life-long friends. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and care staff at Hillspring Skilled Nursing Facility for their compassion. In honor of David's remarkable life, friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of his life. A memorial service will be held on September 13, 2025 at 10:30am at Routsong Funeral Home in KETTERING, OH. A reception will follow, where all who knew and loved David can come together to share stories and memories, reflecting on the impact he had on countless lives.
