Richard “Dick” Wuebker, 78, passed peacefully on September 6, 2026. He was born July 18, 1948, in Celina, Ohio, to Urban and Luella Wuebker and was the fourth of ten children. 

A graduate of Coldwater High School, Class of 1966, Dick attended Kent State before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1968. He attended Vietnamese language school in Washington, D.C., and later served in Vietnam translating and decoding Viet Cong transmissions. 

In 1973, Dick married Trish (Hammond), who lived a block away from him and was his childhood playmate and friend. In high school, they worked alongside each other at Sowar’s Department Store, which was owned by Trish’s grandmother and Uncle Dave. Eventually, they landed in the Dayton area and built their life together. 

Dick had a successful 40-year career in real estate, a profession he truly loved. He especially enjoyed showing houses, meeting people, and helping them find the right home. He embraced the business, the people he met, and the excitement that came with each new house and each new client. Over the years, he owned several real estate companies and took great pride in the career he had built. One of his companies even had the slogan, “Not Just Another Pretty Face.” It was a fitting reflection of Dick’s confidence and sense of humor. 

When he wasn’t working, Dick could often be found watching Jeopardy! or investigative dramas, playing euchre both in person and on the computer, or sitting outside listening and singing along to his favorite artists, including Neil Diamond, John Denver, Jackson Browne, the Eagles, and Don McLean. He could sit there for hours, completely content. As a member of his high school chorus, he developed a love for music and looked forward to concerts, Broadway musicals, and the energy of live music. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had a sweet tooth and rarely turned down pumpkin pie or an ice cream bar. 

Some of Dick’s favorite memories were made on family vacations to Cedar Point, Lake Cumberland on a houseboat, Disney World, and cruises. He loved getting away, discovering new places, and sharing those adventures with the people he loved. Dick also had a lifelong love of animals and had many pets throughout the years. Most recently, he enjoyed the company of two dogs and two cats and was always happy to have one close enough to hold or pet. 

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Trish; their children, Kristy, Rick and Katie Wuebker, and Karin (Joe) Schmidt; and grandchildren Max and Calvin. He is also survived by his siblings Marge (Paul) Steinke, Karen Calhoun, Nancy Kremer, and Mark Wuebker; Garry’s wife, Judy; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marcia (Jay) Koepfle and Joe (Colleen) Hammond. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Urban and Luella Wuebker; his siblings Larry Wuebker, Ginny (Floyd) Kaup, Beth Minnich, Garry Wuebker, and Lori (Dwayne) Brunswick; Karen’s husband, Jeff Calhoun; and brother-in-law Mark Hammond and sister-in-law Jean Gruenhagen.

Dick will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, and the many friends who were fortunate enough to know him. Each will carry their own memories of Dick and the special place he held in their lives. 

The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Mercer Health in Coldwater, St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, and PAM Health Specialty Hospital of Dayton in Miamisburg for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided to Dick. 

A viewing will be held at Routsong Funeral Home in Centerville on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by military honors at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of the Incarnation in Centerville at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow the service for all who wish to join. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. 

We like to think Dick is now at peace, sitting in a comfortable chair, listening to some great music, and enjoying an ice cream bar.
