Donald Vernon Fry

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Vernon Fry on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 72.

One of four brothers, Donald was born on October 24, 1952, to the late Clarence and Geraldine Fry. He was a Kettering native and graduate of Fairmont East High School. Donald spent his career in the automotive manufacturing industry, retiring from General Motors. His love of cars was also evident in his leisure time, as he could so often be found watching NASCAR. Donald was a caring and supportive father to his three sons, taking them to races whenever he could. As a family, they enjoyed travelling West, especially to Colorado. He was also an avid fisherman who delighted in casting his line for bass or saltwater fishing in Florida in the wintertime.

Donald was brother to Jake (Marilyn "Sis") Fry, Walt (Carol) Fry, and Tom (Movita) Fry. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sheila "Sy" Fry. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons: Jerrod (Jenny) Fry, Aaron Fry, and Jamie Fry; and grandchildren Matthew and Mary.

A gathering will be held from 11:00am-12:30pm on Wednesday, April 30, at Routsong Funeral Home (81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH), followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm. Donald will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville.
