Donna Marie Mccarthy

MCCARTHY, Donna Marie, age 90 from Kettering and Bellbrook, OH passed away December 7, 2021. Donna was born in Chicago, IL in 1931 to Walter and Gertrude Tredup. She graduated from St Philip Neri High School in 1949 and attended Drake University. Donna was a stewardess for United Airlines for 6 years, traveling the world and developing an undeniable sense of adventure and hospitality. She married the love of her life, Joe McCarthy, in 1958. Together they raised their family of 3 children in a home always filled with laughter, love, and an enjoyment for life founded on the couple’s commitment to family, faith and each other. Donna’s remarkable legacy of a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was a direct reflection of her grace and the giving nature of her spirit. Donna never met a stranger. She greeted every individual, human or canine, with love and always held them close to her heart. Donna loved to travel and garden but her true passion was cooking, making every meal and holiday unforgettable.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joe McCarthy age 91; her children and spouses — Nancy VanHouten (Stacy), Patty Vanderburgh (Paul), Jim McCarthy (Lori); seven grandchildren and spouses — Ellen Vanderburgh Diefenderfer (John), Joe Vanderburgh (Kate), Joe McCarthy, Jack McCarthy, Sam McCarthy, Allie VanHouten, John VanHouten and one great grandchild, Jack Paul Diefenderfer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 14th at 11 a.m. and will be presided by Father Jim Manning at St Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. If unable to attend in person, please join us in prayer and participate virtually at www.stcharles-kettering.org. Later in the day, there will be A Celebration of Life at the Dayton Country Club from 5:30 - 8 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to your favorite charity.

The family is deeply grateful for the out pouring of love, prayers and support from family, friends, Donna’s caregivers, and Hospice of Dayton.
