Dorthy Sue Wagner

Dorthy "Sue" Wagner, age 84, formerly of Centerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025. Born in Flatwoods, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Doretta Garvin. A graduate of Russell High School, Sue went on to build a life filled with love, family, and service.

In 1959, she married James Wagner, and together they shared many wonderful years until his passing in 2015. Sue retired in 2003 after nearly 20 years with The LM Berry Company, where she was an Office Manager, known for her dedication and work ethic. She found great joy volunteering in Kettering Hospital’s nursery, rocking newborn babies.

Sue had a deep love for her family and took special delight in playing with her grandchildren, tending to her garden, and traveling—especially to her favorite destination, Williamsburg. A devoted shopper, she loved browsing and socializing at Talbot’s and Dorothy Lane Market.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Wagner, and her sister, Janet Samuel. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Roger) Basinger and Jennifer (Peter) Brown; her sister, Johanna Meyer; grandchildren, Carl, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob, and Max; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Darcy.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering, Ohio, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at David’s Cemetery.
