Earl Carl Martin

MARTIN, Earl Carl, age 96, of Kettering, OH formerly of Brookville, OH, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Earl was born on April 9, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH to Earl and Alva “Schmidt” Martin. He graduated from Cooperative High School in 1945. Earl enlisted into the U.S. Navy on March 8,1945 and entered into active service on May 17,1945. He was a Fireman First Class V6 USNR. Earl served on the USS PGM 9, THE USS LSM 287, and The USS SUMNER. He was awarded the Medal’s for American Area, The Victory World War II and The Asiatic Pacific Area. Earl worked as a toolmaker at Machine Products where he enjoyed working on projects and working with tools. He worked for the City of Kettering where he volunteered to sing at different nursing homes throughout the area. Earl was a member of First Baptist Church of Kettering and past member of the Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Dayton Rescue. He loved square dancing, ice skating, playing the organ and ukulele, traveling and playing bingo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alva (Schmidt) Martin. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Deloris Martin; children, Debbie McDermott, Timothy Bramlett and Thomas (Margie) Bramlett; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Plummer, Sarah McIntosh, Chanda DeWine and Andy DeWine; 6 great grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Vincent, Jordan, Kaylee, and Lincoln. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 30 from 9:30-11:00am with a service to follow at 11am at First Baptist Church of Kettering, 3939 Swigart Rd., Beavercreek, OH.
