Edra Mae Anderson

Edra “Edie” Anderson, age 95, of Centerville, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

One of six children, Edie was born on January 19, 1931, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Claude and Sarah Conway. After graduating from high school, she began working at Perfect Circle in Indiana, where she would meet the love of her life, Ray Anderson. They married on March 27, 1954, and would soon welcome two daughters. Ray’s career brought the family to settle in Centerville, Ohio, where Edie began her career as a realtor. For over 35 years, she proudly served her client families. She was extremely hard-working with a caring spirit, and delighted in helping many first-time homebuyers and families in need find a place they could call home.

Edie was also a lover of nature. She and Ray loved to travel and explore outdoor destinations, from their honeymoon road trip to Alaska to the many national parks and beaches they would later visit with their family in tow. The smell of good soil, flowers in bloom, and fresh air brought her joy and peace. She was an avid gardener, who brought the outside into her home when the seasons changed to winter. Natural things had a special place in her heart, from plants to rocks, mountains to shorelines, and all animals wild to domestic. She was selfless and caring to all people and creatures, but above all, Edie cherished her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother “G.G,” and dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Along with her parents, Edie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 72 years, Ray. She was also the last of her siblings, surviving four brothers and one sister. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Cathy (Craig) Osterday and Carol Anderson; grandchildren, Ryan (Liu Chao) Osterday, Elyse (Chris Salerno) Osterday, and Eric (Christie Taggert) Osterday; and four treasured great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Routsong Funeral Home in Centerville (81 N Main St) on Tuesday, August 25, with visitation beginning at 11am and funeral service to follow at noon. Edie will be laid to rest at David’s Cemetery in Kettering.
