Kimmich, Edward D. “Ed” age 73, of Oakwood, OH, lost his battle with brain cancer on May 20, 2026. Ed was born on October 1, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late James and Jeanne (Fitzgerald) Kimmich. At a young age, his family relocated to Marietta, OH where he grew up and graduated from Marietta High School, class of 1970. He went on to earn his BS in Accounting and MBA from Miami University. After his education, Ed moved to the Dayton area where he began his long career as a CPA. In Dayton he met the love of his life, Christine (Chris) Schlater, later marrying in 1977. He had a successful career with Battelle & Battelle in Dayton and became a partner in 1989. After 36 years, he retired in 2012. He remained close friends with colleagues and clients throughout his retirement. He later taught accounting at Sinclair and University of Dayton.
Ed was a dedicated husband, father, brother and friend. He was a lifelong golfer who could often be found on the greens and fairways of Sugar Valley Golf Club, where he made countless friends over the years. He loved fishing, especially with his brother Keith and Kimmich cousins. He was a longtime member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He served on the boards of Dayton Presidents Club, We Care Arts in Kettering, and Dayton Art Institute Associate Board. He also volunteered with SCORE, helping entrepreneurs with their start-ups. Ed’s humorous and hard-working spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Linda Hensley. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Chris Kimmich; daughters, Emily (Andrew) Neff and Leslie (Justin) Seery; son Rob Kimmich; grandchildren, Oliver and Anderson Neff, Linda, Violet, and Josephine Seery; brother, Keith (Christine Thomas) Kimmich; and numerous extended family and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on May 28th at 10AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1322 Brown St. Dayton, OH 45409. A private family graveside farewell will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
