Edward L. Sellers

SELLERS, Edward L., age 85, of Springboro, OH, passed away on July 31, 2025. Ed was born on January 19, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late Fredrick and Georgiana Sellers. He grew up in the Chicago suburbs and graduated from New Trier High School before continuing his education at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he earned his B.A in 1962. Ed settled in the Cleveland area where he began his career in retail management. He started his family in 1969 before moving to the Dayton area where he began his long career with Sears. In Dayton Ed met his future wife, Marcia, later marrying in 1980. In 1993 he retired from Sears.

After his retirement Ed was able to pursue what was to become his favorite career, at the golf course. For 30 years he was a consistent presence at Heatherwoode Golf Course as a starter, greenskeeper, and he could often be found in the cart barn. When he wasn’t working at Heatherwoode he could frequently be found playing the course. Ed and Marcia enjoyed traveling together and exploring other countries. Ed enjoyed attending church at Living Water Lutheran, volunteering in his community, and most of all, spending time with his family. His sense of humor and friendliness will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Fred and Dave Sellers.

Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcia Sellers; sons, Bill (Debbie) Sellers, Jim (Michelle) Sellers, and Dan (April) Sellers; step-children, Shelly (Tom) Mandich, Vicky (Terry) Weese, and Mike Dunlevy; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Living Water Lutheran Church, 667 Miamisburg Centerville Rd. Centerville, OH 45459, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Living Water Lutheran Church at https://lwlcdayton.churchcenter.com/giving .
