Eileen Cecelia Imfeld Donahue - Celebration of a Life Well-Lived
Eileen Donahue, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on October 14, 2023, in Kettering, OH. Born on June 6, 1932, in Hamilton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Agnes and Clement Imfeld.
She married Peter John Donahue in 1952. After their marriage, they moved to various cities, including South Bend, Indiana, and the Washington DC area, before settling in Dayton, Ohio, in 1961.
Eileen dedicated her life to her family, friends and the community. As a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, she played an active role in various parish activities, including Parish Counsel, the choir, CCD, the Eucharist ministry, bible studies and numerous volunteer programs.
Beyond her commitments at church, Eileen was extensively involved in the Kettering Holiday at Home festivities, the Dayton Women's Bar auxiliary, and the Christ Child Society. Her commitment to these organizations showcased her unwavering support for the betterment of her community.
In her leisure time, Eileen enjoyed indulging in various activities, such as playing tennis, traveling, participating in Bridge club gatherings, and the outdoors. She was an avid fan of Notre Dame football, Duke basketball, and the Cincinnati Reds.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Mary Kathleen Schneble (Jim); sons, Patrick Donahue (Stephanie), Peter John Donahue Jr (Angela), and Mark Donahue (Katrina); 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband of 67 years, Peter and her daughter, Eileen Deborah McNeely.
To honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Eileen Donahue, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:00 am. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the Visitation at Routsong Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 6:00 pm.
Following the funeral service, Eileen will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Calvary Cemetery, located at 1625 Calvary Ave., Dayton, OH 45409, on October 28, 2023.
Eileen Donahue will forever be remembered for her love of family and friends and her welcoming, content, peaceful nature. Her legacy of faith will live on through the cherished memories she leaves behind.
