Libby always loved the Lord, was saved and baptized at an early age. A charter member of the Lakewood Enterprise Baptist church in Indiana, she believed in the Baptist doctrine and belonged to the Enterprise Baptist Association for many years. At the time of her death, she belonged to the Lick Branch Enterprise Church, and enjoyed the abundant love of the members.
Libby is also survived by special friends Betty Adams, Jimmie Gibbs, Lodalell Cox, Ricky Lewis and Cleo Wahlman And, a very special great niece, Katie Ison. Libby was an avid doll collector and member of Valparaiso Dolls and Friends of Indiana for many years. Upon returning to Kentucky, she joined the Cave Run Doll Club of Kentucky, in Morehead and started the String A Long Quilt Guild in West Liberty. She spent many happy hours sewing, reading, crocheting, and working on her doll collection.
Although during Libby’s childhood, her family relocated many times, she always made excellent grades and graduated eight in a high school class of 217, East Chicago Washington, despite attending 3 different high schools. Her affinity for math served her well in the work place as she held some very interesting jobs. One of her proudest accomplishments, in a day when women weren’t quickly promoted, she was promoted to assistant vice president in a bank after only nineteen months of service. She retired twice, from Prudential Insurance Company and NBD Bank. Although she did not want to return to Indiana in 1954 when her dad was called back to work; that turned out to be the best move she could have made. Afforded many opportunities based on her work ethic, and not “connections”, she enjoyed wonderful jobs, many friends, great shopping facilities, church, and met both husbands.
She will be buried beside her first husband in McCool cemetery, Portage Indiana.
