It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Florence Louise Flanagan, aged 80, of Dayton, Ohio, who departed from this world on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Born on October 7, 1944, to the late William M. Eardly and Florence L. (nee Hogan) Eardly, she was a cherished member of a loving family as one of twelve siblings. Florence was a proud graduate of Chaminade-Julienne High School, Class of 1962, and furthered her education at Wright State University, graduating in 1983. Her adventurous spirit led her to a career as a flight attendant, a role that allowed her to travel extensively, cultivating her love for new experiences and cultures. A true maestro of horticulture, Florence was best known for her exceptional skills in master gardening. Her passion for flowers mirrored her love for animals, as she nurtured both with care and dedication. Florence was also an ardent follower of politics. Florence was also a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and her devoted husband, Patrick Flanagan. Florence is survived by her loving daughter, Anne (Shawn Meinhardt) Flanagan; son, Chris, her cherished grandson, Aiden Meinhardt; and her siblings: Pat (Ed) Takahara, Therese Montagnini, Jim (Peggy) Eardly, Dan (Jan) Eardly, Ray (Donna) Eardly, sister in-laws, Betty Eardly, Nancy Eardly and Kathy Eardly; brothers-in-laws: Jack Poe and Ray Zemanek. Florence is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Beside her parents, Florence is proceeded in death by her siblings, Don, Tom, Mike, and Gerry, Melissa, and Rita; and sister-in law Stephanie. Funeral services and ceremonies in honor of Florence will be held at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, located at 6696 N Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH 45449, at a date to be announced. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects as we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness, passion, and dedication to family, friends, and community. In these challenging times, we find comfort in the loving memories of Florence and the legacy she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
