Frank Joseph Goepferich, a remarkable husband, father, and community member, of Miami Township, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born on October 1, 1935, in Queens, New York, to the late William and Margaret Goepferich.
After graduating from trade school in 1953, Frank proudly served in the United States Army for two years before transitioning to the reserve forces. Following his military service, he joined National Cash Register (NCR), a career that eventually led him to Phoenix, Arizona. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Marion Fiederer. The two quickly fell in love and married in February of 1961. Their journey continued with a transfer back to Dayton, Ohio, where they welcomed four cherished children into their lives.
For nearly two decades, Frank dedicated his professional life to NCR before embarking on a new venture by purchasing Horn Electric. Together with Marion, they owned and operated the electrical business for over 25 years until their well-earned retirement in 1997.
Frank’s passion for life extended beyond his career. He cherished his time spent with family, participating in activities like waterskiing, fishing, and boating. Family gatherings frequently featured his grilling skills, with a special fondness for preparing Spam. Frank and Marion were avid square dancers for over 30 years, as well as participating in a camera club together.
He had a passion for classic and antique cars, most notably the two Ford Model T’s that he meticulously restored. As a founding member of the Southwest Ohio Model T Club, Frank and Marion participated in club events for over 40 years. His unique skillset also led him to volunteer at the Model T Ford Club of American Museum in Richmond, Indiana, which included helping renovate a restroom and restoring a dilapidated Edison record player to look and play like new. He also volunteered at Carillon Historical Park, assisting with maintaining their Model T’s.
Frank's commitment to preserving history extended beyond just cars. He devoted many hours to the Wright B Flyer hangar, volunteering alongside friends to restore and maintain the “Brown Bird” as well as assist in the development of subsequent planes. His other responsibilities at the hanger included maintaining the Model T Touring “Staff” car as well as building and maintaining their Roadster pickup truck.
Known as a true MacGyver, Frank had a unique ability to fix and create, earning the admiration of those around him. If something was broken, he was often the one people turned to for a solution, and his ingenuity will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
A dedicated member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church for over 60 years, Frank served as an usher and was involved in many other volunteer and social activities.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marion Goepferich; Sister Margaret (Tony) Dezego; daughters Lori (Dennis) Volk, Linda (Bill) Waymire, Marion (Eric) Kruse; and son Frank (Paula) Goepferich. He was a proud grandfather to Mike (Amanda) Gibson, Daniel (Brittany) Goepferich, and Emma Kruse, and a cherished great-grandfather to Brantley, Mya, and Maggie. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Goepferich, and his brother, William (Regina) Goepferich Jr.
