WENTWORTH, Frank Oliver, a loving father, husband, and grandfather, passed away on June 3, 2022. Frank was born on December 17, 1932, to Raymond and Julia Wentworth of Mattydale, NY. He graduated from North Syracuse High School, LeMoyne College and the State University of New York at Oswego. He and his wife Maureen were longtime residents of North Syracuse and parishioners of St. Rose of Lima church.
Frank served in the Army and was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany after basic training at Fort Ord, CA. Following his military service, he became a teacher, and then a guidance counselor, working in the North Syracuse Central School District for more than 35 years. Frank was an avid reader of history, an enthusiastic golfer, and a caring neighbor. His life centered around his family, and he and Maureen remained an active, caring presence in the lives of their children and grandchildren until their last days.
Frank is survived by daughter, Karen Wentworth Quenzer of Maricopa, AZ; son, Stephen Wentworth of Dayton, OH; son, Mark Wentworth of Goodyear, AZ; eight grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by Maureen, his wife of more than 60 years; daughter, Nancy Wentworth O’Dwyer; and his brothers, Raymond Wentworth, John “Jack” Wentworth, and Paul Wentworth (Brother Timothy Wentworth, F.S.C.).
The family plans to celebrate Frank and Maureen’s life at a celebration in Syracuse in June 2023.
