The President's Club of Dayton, which gave him its Citizen Legion of Honor Award, said Frederick's leadership has affected many organizations as well as thousands of Miami Valley residents in health care, education and social services. He was a driving force behind the establishment of the Job Center and ISUS School and founded the Sinclair Foundation. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Pfeiffer Smith on April 14, 2004.
