Gary K. Burchfield

BURCHFIELD, Gary K., age 62, of Xenia, OH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with his family by his side. Gary was born on July 21, 1963, to the late Charles and Della Burchfield, in Xenia, OH. He attended Xenia High School before beginning his 35 year long career with Tremac Corp in Xenia. Gary started his career as an inspector and machinist and later retired as a supervisor in 2015. In 1985 while attending church at the Church of Christ in Christian Union (now Xenia Grace Chapel) he met Karen Boltz, and the two later married in 1990.

He was a big sports fan and loved cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. In his younger years, he loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. Gary and Karen were longtime members of Xenia Grace Chapel. Gary loved music and was often heard whistling his favorite songs. He took great pride in meticulously caring for his lawn and vegetable garden. He also found great joy in cooking for his family, often preparing his favorite dishes, smoking meats, and sharing his famous baked beans. Above all, Gary’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. His loving, thoughtful, kind, and strong-willed character will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rick Burchfield; sister, Kathleen Erdman; and nephew, Ryan Thornsberry.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Karen Burchfield; daughters, Stacie (Scott) Grigsby and Sara (Andy) Miller; grandchildren, Macie, Aiden, and Ryder; sisters, Karen (Darryl) Allen and Sue (Danny) Harper; grand-dogs, Hayley and Luca; and numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429, with a funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Donate Life.
