GRAVETTE, Gary R., age 86, of Kettering, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021. Gary was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. The son of the late Robert and Lucille Goldenbogen Gravette. He graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland in 1953 and Bowling Green State University in 1957 with a BS in Education and a commission in the United States Air Force from ROTC. He spent three years on active duty at Lackland AFB as an instructor in the Officer Personnel School. He worked for Ohio Bell and AT&T many years and was retired from Lucent Technologies.
He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity; Bowling Green Alumni Association; Telephone Pioneers; Kettering Sister City; Oak Creek United Church of Christ; was a Treasurer of the Kettering-Centerville Kiwanis for many years and volunteered at the National Museum of the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Reynolds; and by his lifelong friend and beloved wife of 47 years, Carole Coles. Survived by daughters and son-in-laws, Linda and Steve Constable of Jacksonville, FL, Lisa and Jerry Apt of Washington Township; grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, and Michael Constable, Evan, Kacie and Brendan Apt; brother, Neal (Janet) of Broadview Heights, OH and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. STROOP RD, KETTERING from 1-3PM on Sunday, July 25 with Funeral Services to be held at 10AM on Monday, July 26 at the Harmony Creek Church, 5280 Bigger Rd., Dayton. Burial in David’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420 or Harmony Creek Church. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.routsong.com.
