George A. Farrier, age 88, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on March 21, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
A Dayton native, George was born on November 3, 1937, only child to the late William and Virginia Farrier. He attended the local primary school, but despite his best efforts, he was told he must abandon the traditional schooling of the time due to minor impediment. But George did not let this stand in his way. He was employed by General Motors in their manufacturing division until his retirement from the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company (DELCO), which was the cornerstone of GM's Dayton operations. George was gifted in his understanding of how things work. He was known to his family as a generous and capable handyman. In addition to automobiles, he had a hobbyist affinity for airplanes, and also frequented Woodman Lanes in Kettering, where he bowled in a league with his father for many years.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann, and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by cousins Marsha Kral of Columbus, Ohio; Stephanie Chapman of Kettering, Ohio; and Marion (Jerry) Wright of Dayton, Ohio.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 27, at Routsong Funeral Home in Kettering (2100 E. Stroop Rd.) at 9:30am. Words of remembrance will be shared at 10:00am, before departing for Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville (1639 E Lytle 5 Points Rd.) where George will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
