Grabits ,George Anthony, of Kettering, Ohio, who departed this life peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 90. George was born on August 15, 1935, in a small town in Pennsylvania to Regina and George Grabits Sr.
Following his high school education, George honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. His dedication to service led him to Japan, where he learned Judo, ultimately becoming an esteemed instructor for pilots. His passion for teaching Judo became a lifelong pursuit, and upon completing his military service, George devoted himself to this discipline full-time.
Years later, George relocated to California, where he embarked on a successful career in engineering. While working for the Sierracin Corporation, he furthered his education by earning a master’s degree in Science and Technology Management from Pepperdine University. Throughout this period, he generously shared his expertise by teaching robotics to various companies.
In the summer of 1981, George met the love of his life, Darlene, and they celebrated their union in matrimony on July 19, 1981. Their shared journey brought them to Dayton in 1986, where they pursued yet another passion, culinary arts. George worked diligently at Christopher’s Restaurant in Kettering, contributing to the catering department for over a decade.
George’s passions were anchored in simplicity, enjoying quality time with his beloved wife Darlene, cooking delightful meals, and showering affection upon their many cherished dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Regina Grabits. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Darlene Grabits, Step sons Todd Epley, Tony Clark, along with grandchildren Pamela Schultz and Joshua Verchick, and numerous extended family members.
The family will announce the memorial services and ceremonies at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Alzheimer’s Foundation, a cause close to their hearts.
