George Louis Walter

George Louis Walter, beloved husband of 60 years to Mary Frances (nee Feldman); devoted father to Beth Pavloff (John), Sarah Holt (Andrew), and Michael Walter (Vanessa). Proud Grandfather to eight grandchildren; Paul, Grace and George Pavloff, William, Frances, and Gus Holt and Matilda and Sylvie Walter. Survived by his brother, Albert (Buck) Walter and sister, Mary Kay Luckey (Paul). Devout Catholic, passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 85 in Centerville. George was preceded in death by his parents Florence and Albert Walter.

George was a 1958 Graduate of Elder High School, and he received his BS from Xavier University in 1962. Having served as the Chief Contractor for the procurement of several B-2 Bombers, George retired from Wright-Patt Air Force Base in 2001. Upon his retirement, he worked at BAE Systems until 2012. A man of deep faith and service, George served as an usher and member of the Parish Council at Emmanuel Catholic Church. He also volunteered as a docent at the Wright-Patt Air Force Museum, a role he greatly enjoyed. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing his professional legacy with his grandchildren and their classmates by giving tours of the research and development hangar, proudly highlighting the aircraft he had helped to procure during his years as a civil servant. Above all George was a devoted family man. He cherished attending his grandchildren’s activities, playing golf and immersing himself in all things historical.

The family will receive friends from 9:00am-10:30am on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Road, Kettering. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 149 Franklin Street, Dayton. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery. Those who wish to be present for the burial should meet at the cemetery office at 1:00pm.
