Glenna J. Burns

BURNS, Glenna J., age 89, of Huber Heights, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025. 

Glenna was born August 5, 1935 to the late Loutrell and Effie (Pendleton) Piersall. Deeply rooted in her faith, she had a servant’s heart. Glenna was a long-time member of Bethel Christian Assembly of God, sharing her love of the Lord by teaching Sunday School. She worked at Elder Beerman’s for 20 years as head of the petite department. Glenna truly believed there was no place like home. She devoted her time to making her home a warm place for her family. Glenna spent many hours working in her yard, appreciating the flora and fauna that lived there. She found joy in the little things and took the time to notice a cardinal or enjoy a hamburger and ice cream. Glenna was a kind and giving woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Buddy Burns; and sisters, Judy Miller and Donna Murphy. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve (Robin) Burns, Kevin (Sheri) Burns, Deborah (Don) Poole, and Melissa (Ken) Arnold; grandchildren, Angie (Jason) Pruitt, Laura (Steve) Gross, Danielle (Matt) Watson, Aaron (Lindsey) Burns, Brian (Stefanie) Burns, Nathan (Faith) Burns, Zachary Arnold, Jon (Tyrrel) Burns, Dustin (Kristi) Poole, Nick Arnold, Jake (Brooke) Arnold, and Drew Poole; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Dick) Trezise; nephews, Tim Bender and Dennis Murphy, and niece, Karen Murphy. 

Family will greet friends Saturday, July 12 from 10:00am-11:00am at Bethel Christian Assembly of God, 860 Grange Hall Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45430, with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00am at the church. Private graveside services will be held at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Glenna’s name to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Glenna’s caregiver, Pat Copeland, for her exceptional care of Glenna.
