Gregory P. Powell “Pop-Pop”

Age 62, Formerly of Trotwood, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He was a graduate of Roth High School in 1977 and received his associate’s degree in criminal justice at Sinclair Community College in 2010. He married the love of his life, Diana in March of 1986. Greg’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking and several different crafts. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and going to the flea market. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and mentor.

Family members waiting his arrival include his parents, Calvin and Earnestine Powell; sisters, Regina Powell & Cynthia Sims; special cousin, Theadore “Bay Bra” Whitmore and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

The memory of Gregory Powell will forever be cherished by his wife of 35 years, Diana Powell; sons, Alexander Ealy-Powell, Calvin (Brionna) Powell, and Quintin Powell; daughters, Ashley (Lance) Evans, Tanisha Powell, LaQuita Brewer; and DaShauri Scearce; grandchildren, Alexis and Alexander Jr Ealy, Tionna Rader, Braylon and Brieonna Evans, Troy Ealy, Jaycee Yates and Bryson Evans; his sister, Kathy Brewer and a slew of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Special friends include Rick Moyer, Jeffery Waters, Johnny Johnson, Aaron Newberry, Robert Johnson and Rick Hudson.

If desired friends may make a memorial contribution to Big Brothers and Big sisters of Dayton and The Boys and Girls Club of Dayton.

The family will greet friends 11AM-1PM on Friday, October 22 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd, Kettering. Funeral Services will begin at 1PM at the funeral home with Pastor James Wingfield officiating.

The Family of Gregory Powell would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful help and caregiving given by Diedre, Lala and Miami Valley Hospital, and like to acknowledge the love and kindness shown to Greg by John Powell, Lawrence Whitmore and all who knew and loved him.
