WELCH, Gwendolyn Marie, age 98, of Lebanon, OH, went to be home with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was born on February 4, 1927 in Lebanon, OH. Gwendolyn graduated from Lebanon High School, where she was a member of the debate team. After her graduation she moved to Los Angeles, CA with her best friend. Several years later Gwendolyn returned to Dayton where she met her future husband, Paul Welch, later marrying in 1946. Together they started their family in Dayton and Gwendolyn worked as a dedicated mother to her sons. In 1981 she moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she enjoyed horse riding and tennis. In 1998 Gwendolyn moved back to the Dayton area to be closer to family.
Gwendolyn was a passionate volunteer throughout her life and served for many years with Miami Valley Hospital, where she was recognized for her work. She was a long time member of Dayton Woman’s Club where she made countless friends over the years. Gwendolyn loved to travel and visited numerous places including, Wimbledon in the UK, Australia, and Europe. She was a very strong and for animals. Above all she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and especially loved doting on her granddaughters. Gwendolyn’s independent and adventurous character will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Michael Welch.
She is survived by her son Chris (Deborah) Welch; granddaughters, Kate (Nathan) Whitley, Kristin (Todd Salvator) Welch, Kelley (Mark Shepherd) Welch, and Stephanie Walker; great-grandchildren, Reed and Wade Whitley, and Haley (Check spelling) Walker, Brianna Walker, and Sierra (Nathan).
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
