Hazel L. Barrett

Barrett, Hazel L, age 94, formerly of Kettering, passed away at The Courtyard of Centerville on September 28.

Hazel had a sharp wit and a gift for socializing. Hazel referred to herself and her husband Don as “Hazel Nut and Donald Duck” which always got a laugh. She loved their daily visits to China Cottage and were treated like family. You could always find Hazel going from table to table meeting new people. It seemed to feed her soul, while making others feel special.

Hazel's career started as a Patterson co-op student at NCR and continued for over 40 years in various positions, including Business Consultant. Her sharp memory served her well, as she and Don loved recounting the many memories and stories they shared while working together at NCR. It was there that Hazel met Don, along with many life-long friends.

Hazel loved their dream home in Kettering, with the white picket fence she always wanted. Another of Hazel's loves was their little dog Pepper, that they rescued from the gutter during one of their walks.

Hazel will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband Donald Barrett; two stepsons; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be held on Monday, October 5th, from 10:00 -11:00am, with service beginning at 11:00am, at Routsong Funeral Home (81 N Main St, Centerville). Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
