It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ira “Buddy” Breaux, a beloved father, dedicated Marine, and friend to many, who departed this life on May 8, 2025. Ira was a man of many passions and talents, navigating through life with an unwavering spirit and a zest for adventure.
A decorated veteran, Buddy proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a U.S. Marine. His commitment to service extended beyond the battlefield, as he worked diligently as a Border Patrol agent and later as a U.S. Marshal and finished his career in U.S. Customs. Ira's career was marked by a profound sense of duty and integrity, traits that defined him both professionally and personally.
Beyond his service to his country, Ira was a man of the world. He traveled to beautiful places, including New Orleans, Pensacola, San Diego, Atlanta, Houston, and California, collecting memories and friendships that would last a lifetime. He was passionate about fishing-both deep-sea and crab fishing-where he found peace and fulfillment, often sharing stories and laughter with friends and family on the open water. Ira also had a deep love for music, which was a constant soundtrack to the moments he cherished with loved ones.
Ira leaves behind his adoring family, including his loving spouse of 47 years, Rosalind, daughter, Nicole Hughes and his cherished grandchildren, Jaidyn Hughes, Tehya Hughes, and his cousins, Jonnie La Hatte and Larry Miller, who held a special place in his heart. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him as a guiding light, a source of wisdom, and a man who truly embraced life.
Funeral services and ceremonies will be held Saturday May 17, 2025, at 2:00pm with a visitation to follow, at Routsong Funeral Home 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio, 45429. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate Ira’s remarkable life, sharing stories, laughter and tears as we honor a man who strove to make a positive impact on all those he encountered. In this time of reflection, we remember Ira not just for his accomplishments, but for the compassionate spirit he shared with those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. May he rest in peace.
