Obituary

BOHMAN, James Clarence, 86 of Centerville passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 of natural causes.

Jim was born in Minster, Ohio on December 12, 1939. He graduated from Minster High School in 1957, and earned his Bachelor's degree in English with minors in history and journalism from the University of Dayton in 1961. He joined the staff of the Middletown Journal, and met his future wife Linda Lee Egelston in 1962. The young couple married on July 4, 1964, and welcomed their son, Eric Anthony on August 28, 1967. Jim began writing for the Dayton Daily News in 1970 and the young family moved to Centerville in 1972. Their daughter Jennifer Lynn was born on May 26, 1978.

Jim retired from the Dayton Daily News in 2005, and began working at the Golf Course at Yankee Trace. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a founding member of the choir at the Church of the Incarnation in Centerville. He was a very involved father and loving grandfather to his two grandchildren Matthew Eric and Mary Elizabeth.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Linda Lee (Egelston) Bohman, his son Eric Anthony Bohman, parents Edward Henry Bohman and Rose Mary (Clune) Bohman, his brothers Don Bohman and Dan Bohman, and sisters Eileen (Bohman) Winner and Connie (Bohman) Dunson Lewis. Jim is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Bohman) Fry, son-in-law Jerrod Fry, grandson Matthew Fry and granddaughter Mary Fry.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday April 8, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St. Centerville, Ohio 45459. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Incarnation, 55 Williamsburg Ln. Centerville, Ohio 45459. Burial will take place immediately following Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
