LONG, James Douglas, age 74, of Germantown, OH, passed away on February 7, 2022. James was born to the late Roland and Marie Long in Dayton, OH on August 5, 1947. After graduating from Miamisburg High School in 1966, Jim was drafted into the Army in 1967, serving proudly for two years, one of which was in combat in Vietnam. He retired after a long career from Kroger Co. as a meat cutter. After retirement, he was an avid traveler who proudly visited all 50 states. When not traveling and visiting with his grandchildren, Jim enjoyed spending time at the VA Medical Center surrounded by his fellow Vietnam Veterans.
Jim is survived by daughters, Emily (Andy) Maly, Bethanne Long and Kristen (Nick) Cail; grandchildren, Tyler, Ava, Ryan, Ashlyn, Haidyn and Sabrina; sister, Jane Silcox and brothers, Ronnie (Karen) Long, and Roger (Mary) Long along with several nieces and nephews; former spouse and mother of his children Susan Long. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the VA Medical Center memory care and hospice units.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
