Jane Mills Baumgardner

Jane Mills Baumgardner, 92, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. She was born on August 12, 1933, in Goshen, Indiana, to Mabel Blough Mills and Roland Key Mills.

Jane attended DePauw University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and studied education. There she met Barry Baumgardner, and they were married on Christmas Day in 1954.

Jane lived a full and vibrant life. She was an avid needlepointer, a passionate golfer with multiple holes in one, and found joy in gardening, birdwatching, jewelry, bridge, and following sports. She loved to walk and approached life with a steady optimism that made everyone feel at ease in her presence.

Known for her impeccable style, Jane was always beautifully put together. More importantly, she was warm, social, and genuinely kind. She had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and she was loved by all who knew her.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barry Baumgardner. She was a devoted mother to Lynn "Pinny" (Baumgardner) Miller and Brad Baumgardner, and a deeply loved grandmother and great-grandmother. Jane is survived by her daughter Pinny (Steve) Miller; her son Brad (Susie) Baumgardner; her grandchildren Lindsey Burneka, Katie Byrnes, and Jay Baumgardner and Ben Miller; and her great-grandchildren Madison Burneka, Calvin Burneka, Mills Baumgardner, and Otto Byrnes. She also leaves behind her dear friend Vic Barnett.

Above all, Jane was devoted to her family and friends. Her legacy is one of grace, positivity, and connection, and she will be deeply missed.

A private service will be held at a later date. Jane’s final resting place will be Violet Cemetery in Goshen, Indiana.
