Jane Laird Petersen

Jane L. Petersen, age 96, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born on March 23, 1929, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Jane was the daughter of Renfrew and Glenna Laird. She graduated from Thayer Academy and attended Smith College before marrying the love of her life, Ralph Petersen. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and devotion. A dedicated homemaker, Jane took great pride in raising their three sons. Summers were cherished at her parents’ home on Cape Cod, where the family created a lifetime of memories. After Ralph’s retirement, the two enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and later split their time between Cape Cod and Destin, Florida. Jane also found joy in gardening and tending to the beauty around their home. Jane could also be found enjoying some of her favorite Classical Music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Renfrew and Glenna Laird; her sister, Elizabeth Laird; her beloved husband of 59 years, Ralph Petersen; and sons Scott L. Petersen and Grant R. Petersen. Jane is survived by her son, Stuart E. (Linda) Petersen; granddaughter, Lisa P. (Andy) Snyder; and great-grandson, Evan Snyder.
