Janet D. Walters

WALTERS, Janet D., age 77, of Dayton, OH passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Janet was born on January 6, 1946, to the late Ellis and Julia Lakins, in Dayton. She grew up in Dayton and attended West Carrollton High School class of 1964. Janet met the love of her life and future husband, Robert “Bob” Walters while working at Woody’s Market. They married in January of 1967 and spent 56 wonderful years together. As one of 11 children family was always the focal point of Janet’s life and always loved spending time with her loved ones. In her free time Janet could often be found reading one of her favorite books, completing a crossword puzzle or enjoying her friends in her bowling league. She would frequent the racetrack with Bob while he was competing, which lead to a lifelong love of NASCAR racing. They traveled frequently with their friends to the best NASCAR races and had many great weekends at the track. Janet’s greatest and dearest achievement was becoming a grandmother to five grandchildren and was adamant about always putting them first. Her caring and compassionate nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Janet is preceded by her siblings; Louise Dunham, Billie Sue (Bob) Willis, Bonnie (John) Stone, RC (Chuck) Willis, Meskel Lakins, Ellis (Wanda) Lakins, and Grace Crouch; and niece, Sandy Stemple.

She is survived by her husband Bob Walters; children Ryan (Jandra) Walters, and Julia (Todd) Soehner; grandchildren, Ryan T. Walters, Madison Soehner, Lauren Walters, Nick Soehner, and Jack Soehner; siblings, Frank (Myra) Lakins, Mariana Waddell, and Larry (Carol) Lakins; and numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10-12pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459. A service will be held following at 12pm with burial at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dublin Special Olympics, Attention Kate Newman, 5175 Emerald Parkway, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
