Jean L. Luthman, of Kettering, passed away on June 10, 2026; having just surpassed the age of 106 and a half years.
One of eight children, Jean was born on December 9, 1919, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late John and Katherine Pietrzak. On January 10, 1942, she married the love of her life, Robert Luthman. Jean devoted herself to her family and together they raised five children.
Family and faith were the driving forces in Jean’s life. She and Bob were founding members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where she worked for years cooking for the priests. Her faith in God was matched only by her love of her family. She adored being a mother, grandma, great grandma (G.G.), and great-great grandma.
Jean was a very independent and strong woman, caring for her family, house and yard on her own for nearly 50 years after her husband’s death. She enjoyed good health and a quick wit, delighting in playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a talented artist, enjoying painting pictures of all her grandchildren and of religious icons. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed cooking and eating traditional Polish foods until she passed.
Jean joins her husband of 32 years in Heaven; along with their sons, Robert Luthman Jr. and Joseph (Elaine) Luthman; her parents, John and Katherine Pietrzak; and her siblings: Sr. Celine, Anne Olszewski, John Pietrzak, Soph Wysinski, Joe Pietrzak, Stan Pietzak and Bob Pietrzak.
Jean is survived by her children; Celine (Michael) Brees, Rosalie (David) Snelting, Michael (Cheryl Ann) Luthman; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
