SCHLUETER, Jean I., age 84, of Oakwood, OH, formerly of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Jean was born on August 29, 1940, to the late Harry and Mary Copps, in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in St. Louis Park, MN during her early childhood and later lived in Edina during her teen years where she attended Edina Morningside High School and graduated in 1958. Jean continued her education at The University of Minnesota and St. Cloud State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She was an Elementary School Teacher in Flint, MI from 1963-1965 and Robbinsdale, MN School District from 1965-1967. Jean married Bruce Schlueter in August 1963, whom she had met at St. Cloud State, and together they started a family. Following the births of her children she continued her career in education as a substitute teacher for Anoka Hennepin Public School District from 1976 -1998. She also worked for Target Corporation from 1992-2006. Jean was well known in the Ramsey, MN community where she built a home and raised her family from 1975-1990. She served as a councilwoman from 1983-1986 and as an election judge. Jean volunteered for numerous school committees and community organizations such as the Girl Scouts of America and was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, and Revive Church in Brooklyn Park, where she took part in ushering, outreach programs and Bible studies. After moving to Ohio in 2018 to live with her daughter, Jean attended Southbrook Christian Church where she participated in W.O.W and several Bible studies. She volunteered at Wegerzyn Gardens and Levitt Pavilion. Jean also loved being a student at UDOLLI and took numerous classes of great interest to her. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, gardening, puzzles, and was an expert needlepoint artist. By far, she most loved her time spent with family. Jean was a proud American and had a special fondness for the American southwest. Her dedicated nature and zest for life will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
