Jeffrey James Buchanan

Jeffrey James Buchanan, age 64, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Jeff was born on July 16, 1961, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Walter and Helen Buchanan. He attended Centerville schools, where he played in the band and was involved in intramural sports. A graduate of Centerville High School’s class of 1978, Jeff continued his education at Ohio University and later Sinclair Community College. He worked for the Montgomery County Board of Elections for ten years before moving to Arlington, Texas. Jeff loved the sports scene of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He enthusiastically worked in retail services for each team during their season. Just prior to his passing, he enjoyed his position as assistant manager of the local Shoe Carnival. Jeff was also very interested in politics and always kept up with American current events. During his leisure time, he could often be found immersed in TV nostalgia, especially Star Trek.

Along with his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Edward Buchanan; and brother-in-law, David Hoover Jr. He is survived by his sister, Carole (Thomas) Bruton of Arlington, TX; niece, Sarah (David) Martin of San Antonio, TX; nephew, Edward (Heather) Hoover of Washington D.C.; great-nephew, David (Megan) Martin Jr.; great-niece, Ashleigh Martin; and great-great nephew, River Martin.

Services will be held at Routsong Funeral Home in Centerville, Ohio (81 N. Main Street) with burial to follow at Centerville Cemetery. Service date and times will be posted as soon as they are available; please check back soon.
