Jeffrey Claude Kunst

January 8, 1944 — October 18, 2025

Centerville

Jeffrey Claude Kunst "The Bean". Born January 8, 1944 to John and Charlotte Kunst of Dayton, Ohio. Jeff grew up in Oakwood, Ohio, attended Harmon Elementary, graduated from Oakwood High School, Wittenburg University and Xavier University.

From his earliest of days, Jeff was an avid fan of westerns, basketball, and coin collecting. Jeff was a principal and administrator at Centerville City Schools 1967 to 2002. He was a diligent, ethical, and discreet leader. He never played favorites and supplied a safe environment for young adults that needed guidance.

Upon retiring Jeff and Lucia bought a recreation vehicle and with his beloved Dually truck, saddled up their belongings and headed for the West. They enjoyed many years of hiking, exploring and making memories.

At 6'7" Jeff the "Beanstalk" as he was known to friends was a gentle giant and a great conversationalist, focused and present with an occasional playful and "Smart Ass" remark accompanied by his shifty smile. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and dominating over his grandchildren in Mexican Train.

Jeff gave the big bird to Parkinson's and Dementia on October 18, 2025. To the rest of us we will see him again someday with a big plate of Skyline Chili and malted milkshakes.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents John Matthew Kunst and Charlotte Wells Kunst.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucia Schaeffer Kunst, his children Robert Kunst (Laurie), Katherine Holliday (Kurt) Michael Kunst (Marybeth). His brother John Kunst (Pattye) and eight grandchildren Robert, (Marissa) Kunst, Bailey, and Tanner, Kunst, Nicholas Holliday Lucielle, (Edwin) Cervantes, lsabelle, (Josh) Stewart, Michael and Charlotte Kunst one great grandchild Gabriel Cervantes.

A private family ceremony was held at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. The family invites all who mourn his loss to gather on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from noon until 2:00pm to share memories and condolences at The Presidential Banquet Center's Washington Room (4548 Presidential Way, Kettering). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the John White Scholarship Foundation at Oakwood High School or the Centerville Washington Parks District. You may want to consider the Mars Candy Inc. as stock in Snickers is sure to fall.
