Hiett, John "Jack”, age 89, of Washington Township, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather whose life radiated warmth and camaraderie, passed away on April 30, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy rich with laughter, adventure, and a profound love for his family and friends. He was born on March 16, 1936, in Windsor, Wisconsin, to the late John and Edith Hiett.
He enjoyed the outdoors with his beloved wife, Mary Ann, and their hobbies included traveling in their motorhome to places like Alaska, Mexico, and Alabama, as well as camping, fishing, and snowmobiling with family. In his free time Jack enjoyed working with his hands, on cars, with wood, and various household projects. Jack and Mary Ann loved hosting family, friends and neighbors, at their entertaining and fun parties. He was an awesome friend and neighbor to all he met. He loved listening to Polka music and making delicious Bloody Mary's.
An honorable veteran of the Air Force, Jack's service to his country stood as a testament to his character — strong, steadfast, and unwavering. Jack was proud to be an instructor and mechanic for helicopters in the Air Force, including the “Flying Banana” and H19 Chickasaw.
Jack was a member of Incarnation church, as well as a member of the Escapees RV Club. In his professional career, Jack was a field engineer for NCR, then worked for Diconix - Kodak.
Jack is preceded in death by his cherished family including his wife, Mary Ann and son, Bill. As well as his loving sisters Joan and Barbara.
He is survived by his dear sons, Mike Hiett and Joe (Terri) Hiett; grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Jon, Nick, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Adalynn; and numerous extended family and friends.
A tribute to Jack's life will be held from 5-7pm, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Church of the Incarnation, 55 Williamsburg Ln, Centerville, OH 45459, with a burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join in celebration Jack's vibrant spirit and the memories he has left us.
