Sanderman, John Robert, “Jack”, age 87, of Centerville, OH passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Hospice of Dayton on May 10, 2025. He was born on January 19, 1938, in Cincinnati, OH to parents Frank Jr. and Dorothy Sanderman.
Jack was a graduate of Chaminade High School, class of 1956. After graduating, Jack joined the US Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He served his country faithfully and honorably for two years. Upon his return from the Army, Jack married his high school sweet-heart, Betty Lou, in 1959. Jack was a successful entrepreneur, owning his own business as a Dental Technician. He operated his dental lab for over 50 years, retiring at the age of 75.
In his free time, Jack had a passion for buying and selling antiques. He was also a skilled carpenter, with a knack for refurnishing furniture. Jack took great pride in his yard, especially the flowers. Above all, one of his greatest joys in life was being a dad and grandpa. Jack was also a faithful and longtime parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Jack’s kindness was truly unmatched - he will be remembered for his forgiving and loving nature.
Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Betty Lou Sanderman; parents Frank Jr. and Dorothy Sanderman; brother-in-law Donald Westerheide; and son-in-law Steven Bernhard. He is survived by his four children – John J. (Rhonda) Sanderman, Mary Bernhard, Vicky (Nina) Brock, and Julie (Dennis) Bloomer; siblings, Dr. Frank (Nancy) Sanderman III, Joan (Donald) Westerheide, Barbara (Robert) Schwartz, and Nancy Duffy; grandkids, Taylor, Brooke, Kyle, Dillon, Katie, and Chris; great-grandkids, Lucas, Vincent, Parker, and Landon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and beloved friend, Sandy Royer.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 15th, from 5-7pm at Routsong Funeral Home Kettering (2100 E. Stroop Rd). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 16th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6245 Wilmington Pike) at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the Hospice of Dayton staff.
