LEO, John Raymond, age 63, of Washington Township, went to be with God on October 1, 2025. He was born on July 2, 1962 in Havre De Grace, Maryland to parents Raymond and Florence Leo.
John graduated from Alter Highschool in 1981. He enjoyed playing bingo (mostly to win prizes for his great-niece) and taking trips to Hueston Woods with his best friends. He loved serving as President of the Resident Council at Austin Trace Health and Rehab Center, where he was a strong advocate for ALS and was always eager to assist new residents. Through the support of the ALS Association, John was also able to fulfill a lifelong dream of throwing the first pitch at a Dayton Dragons game alongside his sister, Michelle.
Above all, John loved being an uncle and great-uncle.
He is preceded in death by his parents and many other family members. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Michelle (Doug) Bennett; nieces, Jessica and Andrea (Cody); great-niece, Millie, and his best friend (brother) Doug (Susie) Kohnen and family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Routsong Funeral Home in Centerville (81 N. Main St.) from 10am-12pm. A service will follow, starting at 12pm, also at Routsong Centerville.
John’s family would like to extend a special thank you for the care and compassion shown by the staff at Austin Trace Health and Rehab Center and Washington Township’s ICU department.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s honor to ALS United Association Southwestern Chapter, a foundation that has been a tremendous help to him and many others affected by ALS.
