Walker Jr., John V. H. “Jack,” age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born on January 8, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late John Walker Sr. and Mary (Malone) Walker.
Jack attended Fairview High School, where he met the love of his life, Beverly Kneisley, through his best friend, and future brother-in-law. Following graduation, Jack proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his four years of service, he and Beverly were stationed together in Anchorage, Alaska, beginning a lifetime of shared adventure and devotion.
After his honorable discharge, Jack returned to Dayton and began a long and successful career in the automotive industry. Known for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and caring heart, he earned the respect of colleagues and took great pride in his work, providing faithfully for his family for many years.
Throughout his life, Jack was active in numerous clubs and organizations, reflecting his wide range of interests. These included his involvement with the Dayton Gems hockey team, sports car racing, the Dayton Agonis Club, Promise Keepers, and other community activities. He enjoyed staying engaged, building friendships, and pursuing his passions.
In retirement, Jack and Beverly treasured time spent traveling with family, especially to Lake Cumberland, Kentucky, and Sarasota, Florida. He delighted in boating, fishing, and making memories with those he loved most. Above all, Jack cherished his family and valued every moment spent together. His quick wit, sharp mind, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Beverly Walker, and his grandson, William T. Crotty.
He is survived by his children, John (Cherie) Walker, Jeff Walker, and Cathleen (Brian) Crotty; eight grandchildren; his brothers, Tom (Sharon) Walker and Jim (Bonnie) Walker; his sister, Linda (Tom) Kempton; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members.
Per his family’s wishes, services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jack’s honor to Miracle League of Dayton (miracleleaguedayton.org) or Fraternity of the 4 Paws (www.fratofthe4paws.org/).
