Josephine (Jody) Holmes Fraver Grinnell

GRINNELL, Josephine (Jody) Holmes Fraver, age 86, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. Jody was born on June 14, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, to Joseph and Elizabeth Simmindinger Holmes. She was a graduate of Patterson Co-op and Miami-Jacobs Secretarial School. Jody married Norman C. Fraver, Sr., and had three children: Norman Charles, Jr., Joyce Ann, and Robert Thomas. Her husband Norman passed away unexpectedly after 15 years of marriage. Jody then married Harold Grinnell and they lived in Kettering for 45 years until he recently passed away. She had a long working career, first at Imperial Food Town Offices and later at Chapel Electric. While at Chapel Electric, Jody was active in the National Women in Construction Professional Association and served for a time as president. In her later years, she worked at Joanne’s Fabric Store and Centerville Coin and Jewelry.
Throughout her life she loved to entertain, enjoyed ceramics, quilting, and cooking, and was active in charity work with We Care Arts. She was also a long -time member of Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church.
Jody was also proceeded in death by her parents, sisters: Phyllis Holmes, Donna Jones, Helen Cenky, and Wilma Wells, grandsons Matthew Fraver, and Matthew Grinnell. She is survived by her sons, Norman (Suellen) Fraver, Jr., Rob (Polly) Fraver, daughter Joyce (Mark) Kleinke, Stepsons, Alan (Sharon) Grinnell, and Steven (Mary) Grinnell, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the very caring staff at Stoney Ridge Estates and Affinity Hospice and especially to the many friends that Jody had throughout her lifetime.
Visitation will be at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, Kettering, on Wednesday, July 20th, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, followed by a memorial service. Burial will be at Glen Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Affinity Hospice would be appreciated.
