Karen Ann Brunn

September 15, 1963 — December 8, 2007

BRUNN, Karen Ann, 44, of Bellbrook, died gently in her home on December 8, 2007. Born Karen Ann Cook on September 15, 1963, in Denver, Colorado, she was the youngest child of Keith and Jean (Ellis) Cook. She married her lifelong family friend, Mark E. Brunn, in Rochester, Indiana, on May 25, 1985. She gave birth to their daughters Kristin Estelle in 1993 and Erin Michelle in 1995. Mrs. Brunn earned a diploma from Northglenn High School (Colorado) in 1981, a B.S. in business from Wright State University in 1986, and an M.B.A. from University of Dayton in 1991. Living in the Dayton area since 1985, Mrs. Brunn was employed by First National Bank, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She retired with twenty years of service to WPAFB and was awarded the Career Civilian Meritorious Service Medal on July 1. She was a member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Elder, Deacon, and member of the Deborah Circle. She took great pleasure in the lives of her girls; one particular way was to volunteer in their classrooms providing support for celebrations, field trips and special events. She loved camping with her family and the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. She will be remembered for her poise, dignity, and kindness: hers was a presence that would lift a room when she entered it. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Don Brunn. In addition to her husband and daughters, all of Bellbrook, Mrs. Brunn is survived by her parents, Keith and Jean Cook of Northglenn, CO; her sisters, Sue Shaw (Ken) of Aurora, CO, and Carol Rhine (Dave) of Thornton, CO; her mother-in-law, Mary Brunn of Rochester, IN; her sister-in-law, Kathy Carlson (Jeff) of Chaska, MN; her brother-in-law, Eric Brunn (Norma) of Columbus, IN; and 12 nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank family, friends, and Hospice of Dayton for their generous compassion and care as Mrs. Brunn battled cancer. Her bravery and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her as she faced extraordinary adversity with exceptional dignity and grace. She will be forever missed. Visitation will be Thursday, December 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 14 at 10 AM at Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Dr. Julia K. Wharff, officiating. Committal Service will follow at Bellbrook Cemetery.
