HEETER, Larry M age 73, of Dayton Ohio passed away at Miami Valley Hospital Thursday, September 9, 2021. Larry was born August 17, 1948 to Chester Marvin and Norma Elois (Lucas) Heeter. While still a student of Fairmont West High School, at 17 years of age, Larry enlisted in the US Army and served honorably in Europe from 1965 - 1968, discharging as a Corporal. He was extremely proud of his military service.
Upon his return stateside, he transitioned into the auto industry, working at the Vandalia Inland plant and the Moraine GM plant for many years. He also started a career with Cassano's Pizza in 1982. His service spanned 39 years and stands as a company record, during his time with them he personally knew Vic Sr and Vic Jr. In addition to his accomplishments, Larry was a skilled mechanic, rebuilding cars in his spare time, as well as an avid stock car fan. One of his greatest achievements was restoring and maintaining his 1969 Corvette. His interests included athletics and bodybuilding in his youth and well into his older years.
Larry loved animals, fondly remembering Red, his cherished Irish Setter from his younger days. Later in life he took in Beeboo, a stray cat who adopted him and became a much loved companion. Larry also enjoyed fishing and loved nothing more than spending time with his daughter Lindsay. They would often go on long car rides, meandering through the countryside, stopping to appreciate and photograph the rural settings and historical homes. Larry became a Christian in his adult life, quietly and humbly committing himself to his relationship with God. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Barb, brother, Andy and his parents. Larry is survived by his beloved daughter Lindsay Ellen (Ellie), step-son Jason (Michelle) Kerr, step-daughter Jessica (Tom) Kolb, brother Rick, sisters Patty and Carol, his Aunt Marilyn, Cousin Ted ( his wife Esther) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Christian Family Fellowship Ministry www.cffm.org located at 1575 St Rt 571 West, Tipp City Ohio 45371 on Saturday, October 9th. Family will greet friends from 2pm to 3pm, followed by the Memorial Service to begin at 3pm. There will be no viewing however, select pictures and memorabilia from his life will be present. Interment will be held at a later date with the immediate family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Larry’s former spouse Janice for her care and support of Larry and their daughter Ellie. In lieu of flowers, donations to offset his final arrangements can be directed in memory of Larry to Day Air Credit Union, 3434 York Commons Blvd., Dayton, OH 45414, written and deposited to Lindsay Heeter.
